Great Food, Great Find: Cookbook Kitchen

This is how our plates ended.

Just right after the cluster of restaurants in the Wilson-P. Guevarra area in San Juan and just before the Shaw Boulevard dining places, the Cookbook Kitchen rests cozily in the little known street of Socorro Fernandez.

Cookbook Kitchen (CBK) provides a relaxed atmosphere where you can dine with class and enjoy wonderful company. You don’t get bugged by the sound of honking or speeding vehicles nor the relentless rush of people and staff going in or out. It’s was a premier dining experience I haven’t had in years!

We were there to celebrate the birthday of a dear brother in our community, 5 couples in all.

We had Pasta Al Adobo which was a surprise for me. It is not your typical pasta. The strands of adobo meat mingled with the noodles magnificently. The idea was unusual for me, yet I found it delightful. I could have eaten it with rice, too!

Then came Pineapple Soy Spare Ribs. Delectable, melt in your mouth meat! Next, I got some CBK Chicken, tender and tasty. I could have said stop, this is too much pleasure.

But when the Parmesan Crusted White Fish was served you could hear me humming and nodding in satisfaction. I could not properly describe the taste, since I am no food critic. I just love good food. The closes I can think of is: the flavor is mild and the taste leaves a distinct memory that keeps begging for more. Then I died and went to food heaven.

Only when we were savoring coffee and dessert did it occur to me to take pictures. Too late.

I’ll take my wife again there for a date. And maybe our Ninang. And my wife’s former boss and co-teachers. My officemates. My wife again.

And by the way: the servings may be good for 1.75 persons, and the price was certainly affordable.
