Two Things I’d Like to See for Philippine Education
The Power of Words
There is power in them, words.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words…….
can break my heart or soothe my soul. Words can affect a child for better or for worse depending on which words are used.
In like manner, the words you say to others and the words you say to yourself affect your life greatly. You just don’t realize it.
Take a look at the words that you often use. Do you use four-letter words often? I mean, love, hope, care, give and best? Or are they filled with the bad ones?
If your vocabulary is more positive and uplifting and encouraging, you are more likely to be happier and less stressed. It may also be that you are healthier and are optimistic.
You are more angry if you use demeaning, cursing, abusive and hate-filled words. I bet you will be more depressed and pessimistic.
Words are expressions of your inner self. Conversely, the words you use affect what you feel.
This means that if you choose your words well, you have the ability to affect how you feel, how you see life and how you live.
Words carry power. Use them wisely.
The Future Is In Your Hands
We all felt the ripples and effects of the financial crisis.
But how come I know some people, from the very industries that were hit the hardest, are more successful now than before the meltdown?
There are also people who should have been raking it in but were miserable failures?
The answer lies in our attitude.
If we think we will not achieve our goals because of the economic downturn, we are correct. If we say we will exceed our goals despite a gloomy market, we are right too.
It is not only the external forces that shape our future. We have our internal response system that largely dictates the outcome of any endeavor we make.
The future is only as good or bad as we see it to be.
The future is in your hands.
Blog Action Day: Climate Change
With the recent typhoons and flooding, we have seen the effects of climate change. It is not too late to take action. No matter how little effect our efforts will make in the short term, we would have done a great service to earth and the future citizens of the world.
Let one of the legacies our generation be caring for the environment to counter the effects of climate change.
Learn at Every Turn
How hungry are you for new knowledge? How eager are you to acquire new skills? How open-minded are you about new ideas? How discerning are you about what you read, see or hear?
The best way to improve one’s self is to learn at every turn. Each experience is a learning experience.
Intentionally seek for answers to your questions. Write down things that you want to know. Make a list of ideas and topics that you are curious about. They may be about your job, about your culture and faith, about your hobbies and passions.
At every opportunity, with purpose, journey to find what you do not know.
Ideal Vs Realistic
If you can’t exercise for 1 hour, jog for 30 minutes.
If you can’t give 100 pesos, give 50 or 25.
If you can’t volunteer every week, do it once a month.
If you can’t save 1000 pesos every payday, try 500.
If you can’t pray for 10 minutes straight, pray for 5 minutes.
if you can’t re-design your blog and re-launch with a big bang, just keep on posting until you can.
Do not let the ideal prevent you from doing what must be done.
